As for the likelihood of the deal, well...,
News Corp, which owns the Fox cable network and local TV stations, had been seen as a less likely bidder, analysts have said, because taking a stake in NBC might raise antitrust concerns with the U.S. government.Link: http://www.reuters.com/article/mergersN
I'll go with the Hotair.com analysis as a counter, for it's been focusing on the recent White House/Fox News wankery. I'll also include a YouTube link of WH Communications Director Anita Dunn's Sunday commentary, as it is the new nexus point.
Yeah, “might.” What are the odds that Eric Holder “might” want to prevent the administration’s cable-news house organ from being acquired by a guy whose most famous holding is the subject of now-daily White House pants-wettings?Link: http://hotair.com/archives/2009/10/12/t
While you mull, in honor of Anita Dunn, here’s Beck rubbing her and The One’s faces in those same soiled pants this afternoon. Cavuto got his own shots in just a few minutes earlier.

If the deal occurs or not, I'll be the first to report.
Exit question 1: The "Law & Order" franchise has taken a few potshots at Murdoch over the years (e.g., CI Season 5). If Murdoch does buy NBC/Universal, think it will evoke a mini-facepalm at Wolf Films? Nothing says 'hello' at your new boss, like your previous media jeers of him from 3-4 years ago.
Exit question 2: It's a pity that the Jack/Abbie-era spinoff, "Deadline," wasn't created, 10 years later, eh? The actual storytelling from the NBC/News Corp merger would have kept it sustained for years and years.
Update: Added the Dunn video link, so you can appreciate the subject at hand.
